I see comments on ads and websites saying that this dog 'carries the merle gene' or 'carries the parti gene ' or carries this or that gene. How do they know what gene a dog carries?
Is it from the litters the dog produced, from the known parents coloring, from the parents' litters or from the known lineage past the parents?
Just something that tweaked my interest and I'm not sure how to research this...

Woooo! I have been sooooo busy this past week! Tuesday my Mini Poodle had her pups. She usually only has 4 but this time she had 6. It took 3 hours between pup 2 and 3. Luckily I had a friend who walked me thru everything and helped me get the pups to move down into the birth canal. Then pup 3 and pup 6 were breached. I enjoy poetry and writing. One of my most favorite things to do, used to be, a group writing session. One person would write a line, or stanza, and the next person would add to it until the piece was complete. This is a great way to get inspired and to beat writers block.
